Affordability Policy Solutions
Despite gains in health coverage and affordability under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a large number of Americans remain uninsured, including millions of adults ages 50 to 64. Barriers to affordability and access exist, but there are options to improve access to affordable coverage and reduce racial/ethnic/other coverage disparities.
Medicare Savings Program Enrollment
Mathematica and the AARP Public Policy Institute analyzed MSP enrollment patterns in a four state sample before and after they expanded MSP eligibility criteria. Findings show that these changes led to enrollment growth and suggest multiple potential benefits to states.

Most women voters 50-plus say elected officials are not addressing the financial challenges they face, according to a recent AARP survey. The majority of women voters 50 and over are increasingly worried about the country’s economic challenges, with eight in 10 expecting housing and grocery prices to get worse in the next year.
